Rolex Datejust Mens The Rolex Datejust Mens with it’s sleek lines, is barely discernable from the current Rolex President at first glance. It’s the most iconic Rolex model in our collection and is the most popular model Rolex has ever produced. The Rolex Mens Datejust comes in a variety of options including:
- Stainless Steel and 2-Tone (Steel and 18K gold)
- Original dials or custom dials refinished and enhanced with genuine diamonds
- Matching Jubilee or Oyster bands
Rolex introduced the watch at the Rolex Jubilee in 1945 as it’s new flagship model, and since then it’s design has gone on to become the one of the most recognizable watches in history over the past 60 years. Up until 1962 the only Datejust models that were available were in either all stainless steel or all gold models. There was a large gap in the two models that Rolex interpreted as a need for an intermediately priced watch. The steel and gold or “2 tone” watch filled this need perfectly.
First known as the Rolex Mens Oyster Perpetual Datejust, it’s design has changed little over the years since it’s introduction. The most dramatic change happened in 1954 when Rolex introduced the Cyclops date magnifier. The little bump in the crystal provides 2.5x magnification to see the date more clearly and has since become a signature for the Rolex line.
